Jon graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 1995, with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Biblical Studies. While at APU, Jon was a setter for the Men’s team during his freshman and sophomore years. From his junior year on Jon left 6-man indoor setting to play the whole game in competitive doubles.
Jon developed a love for the game early on while “stranded” at his older sister’s after-school volleyball practices. He started playing on teams of his own in Jr. High. During High School Jon played for his school's varsity team for four years as the starting setter. He was co-captain his junior and senior years. The team won their league in both of these years and went undefeated in league play Jon’s senior year. Jon was named MVP for his last year in high school volleyball.
Jon’s philosophy of coaching is that winning is by-product of hard work and team discipline. Fundamentals, particularly passing, is of highest importance at this level, as ball control is the foundation for advanced offenses.
Presently, Jon is finishing coaching the fall season in the Tri-City Christian volleyball program. He and his family (wife Wendy, daughter Jordan (7) and son Adam (5)) live amongst the avocados of North County’s Bonsall region.
