A graduate of the Air Force Academy, Barb was a four-year starter and the only player in Academy history to start every volleyball game of her career. She was team captain and team MVP both her junior and senior years. She was also the recipient of the Olympia Award, as well as a two-time All-American and four-time All-Conference selection. After graduation, she went on to play at the national and international level for the U.S. Armed Forces, competing in three military Olympics (CISM).
As head coach of the Air Force Academy Intercollegiate Program, Coach Corbeil brought her team to national ranking in the top 15 each season. She has coached junior level club teams for Alamo VBC (San Antonio, TX), and Colorado Juniors (Colorado Springs, CO), and worked at the U.S. Olympic Training Center as a court coach for the Jr. National program. She has also participated as an assistant in the World University Games. Coach Corbeil has the highest coaching certification by USA Volleyball -- CAP III.
Ms. Corbeil is a nationally-certified official and scorekeeper for both indoor and outdoor volleyball. She was part of the U.S. Beach Volleyball officiating crew for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Coach Corbeil's working philosophy is to introduce volleyball to students as part of their pursuit of a "purposeful life." She believes that health and fitness are key components of a well-rounded individual, and volleyball is one way to make exercise fun. She has three season goals: 1. Have fun! The name of the game is participation, improvement, and building self-confidence; 2. Teamwork. Learn how what we do as individuals affects the whole, and; 3. Technique. Learn the basic skills and rules of the game.
